Chaperone Opportunities
5th-8th Grades

When chaperoning, both parents are encouraged to participate. Through chaperoning, you will have an opportunity to see your child in action! We realize that a conflict may arise with your assigned date; if so, please email us as soon as possible to let us know so we can plan accordingly. Chaperones will receive a reminder email prior to the assigned class.

During Regular Classes: The responsibilities of a chaperone include serving refreshments, participating in a receiving line at the end of class, and assisting with class assignments and contests. If you have an Aunt, Uncle, Grandparent, or other family member who would like to chaperone with you during one of the classes, that is perfectly fine - we would love to have them join us.

End of the year Formal Dinner and Ball Event Chaperones: With the end-of-the-year events requiring much more ‘work’ from parents, we want to share with you some of the responsibilities that come with chaperoning these big events. In general, parents who chaperone will:
-
Be seated at a table with students. You may have a very ‘easy’ table or you may have a very ‘challenging’ table. You never know what the chemistry of the students will bring. Polite dinner conversation may flow freely or you may have to do everything possible to get the students to talk amongst themselves.
-
Keep an eye on the salt & pepper and the sugar packets. Sometimes students tend to think sugar packets make a good appetizer to the dessert course.
-
Keep an eye on the restrooms. Sometimes the students like to congregate in the restrooms and need redirecting to their tables or to the dance floor.
-
Assist with pairing up the students during the dance portion of the evening.
